Livelihood Project

Afghanistan’s severe poverty is predicted to grow in 2021 for the first time in more than 20 years, as the COVID-19 epidemic compounded the forces of conflict and climate change, which were already impeding poverty reduction efforts. The impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic are expected to force an extra 18 million to 25 million people into extreme poverty. We believe that by giving our beneficiaries adequate assistance, training, and opportunity, we enable them to transform and sustain their livelihoods for future generations. The Humanitarian Assistance Society has launched a project with 100 recipients. The project works directly with low-income men and women, assisting them in advancing their professions and improving their families’ lives and, therefore, the community. The first project was to give a 6-month curriculum of basic tailoring instruction to jobless and underprivileged women. The second project was giving unemployed men a pushcart that can help them to be self-employed. People from lower-income groups can earn their livelihood.
